Can you imagine living all your life chained up with nowhere to go?

That was Queenie's fate -- before surviving Hurricane Katrina, and then going to a rescue group and then coming to Best Friends.

Talk about a rough road!

So Queenie is still a little skittish around people she meets for the first time. She's kind of a scaredy-cat dog. And can even be intimidating if she's really unsure about you. It takes time. She's been through a lot. But once she gets to know you, all that fear goes away and she's happy to have a friend.

Queenie has mastered a special trick: Piling up her toys and guarding them from certain doom! She also knows how to walk on lead and is getting more training from her care givers.

Her progress has been remarkable! She used to be dog aggressive. Not any more! Now, she's fine with other dogs. She used to not let people pet her at all. Now once she knows you she'll let you pet her all over! Queenie is eager to show what a grateful companion animal she would be in an experienced adult household.
