Have a Sleepover
Have a Sleepover

Planning a visit to Best Friends? You can have a lot of fun and provide a meaningful break for a dog or cat who needs some extra quality time by having a sleepover at your hotel.

What is a sleepover? You share your cabin, cottage or hotel room for a night with a deserving cat or dog. It’s a win-win: You get to spend some one-on-one time snuggling with a wonderful, very appreciative cat or dog. Sleepovers also help us get a better idea of how a cat or dog will do in a home-like environment. People who do sleepovers can tell us about a cat’s or dog's behavior in a one-on-one situation - behavior that may be very different from when they're around their Cat World or Dogtown friends.

For information on pet-friendly accommodations in Kanab, go to Visiting Best Friends

Please note, you must be volunteering in the animal care area of your intended sleepover guest (Dogtown, CatWorld, Piggy Paradise) in order to take a dog, cat or pig home for the night. If you are interested in taking a dog an on Outing, you must also be volunteering in DogTown in order to take a dog out for the day. Please contact the Volunteer Dept at volunteers@bestfriends.org to make volunteer arrangements.

Sleepover Dogs
Sleepover Dogs

If you take a dog on a sleepover, there are a few things you should know. First, dogs are, of course, always welcome in any of our cabins and cottages here at the sanctuary. However, if you are staying in a hotel in Kanab, please check with the hotel to make sure they allow dogs. Second, we ask that dogs are with a human at all times, so please don’t leave them in your room or car. Many of the restaurants in town have outside seating and are more than happy to accommodate a four-legged diner. Finally, we do ask that the dogs be picked up toward the end of the day and brought back first thing in the morning. This way, we can make sure they stick to their routine and don’t miss out on meal time!

If you would like more information on sleepovers, please stop by Dogtown headquarters and inquire at the front desk. They have a list of dogs just waiting to go home with you, even if it’s only for a night!

Sleepover Cats
Sleepover Cats

Kitties like sleepovers, too! If you would like more information on taking a cat on a sleepover, please stop by the cat adoption office in Morgaine’s or call 644-2001, ext. 4328. They have a list of cats just waiting to go home with you, even if it’s only for a night!

Sleepover Pigs
Sleepover Pigs

Ever sleep with a pig? Here’s your chance: Sprocket is now available for sleepovers! He loves to hang out with folks all evening long, providing plenty of opportunities for folks to give him belly rubs and brush him. It’s a tough job, but he’s up for it.

Never been around pigs and think they are dirty or lesser animals? They aren’t! They are extremely intelligent and very clean when allowed to be. Pigs are even easier to house-train than dogs. To have a porcine pal sleepover, you will need to volunteer at Piggy Paradise for at least half a day and you will need to be staying at one of the Best Friends cottages. We’ll help you set up for Sprocket’s overnight stay.

Here’s what people are saying about sleepovers with Sprocket: "One of the most amazing experiences!" "The perfect house guest!" "Wonderful and sweet." "A real gentleman!"

Sprocket is available for sleepovers in the Best Friends cottages only (not the cabins).

Check out who’s waiting to come home with you tonight!

Sleepover Rabbits

Yes! You can borrow a bunny!

Visiting Best Friends? Why not take a rabbit back to your hotel or cabin for a slumber party? It's a great experience for the animals -- and for you. Our rabbit staff can help you find the perfect long-eared slumber bunny.

Go on an Outing
Take a dog an an outing
Volunteer with Best Friends

If you’re not able to do a doggie sleepover, you might want to take one of our dogs on an outing. You can take a dog into town for lunch, or maybe on a hike in the canyon. Wherever you decide to go, one of our Dogtown residents would love to go with you.
